Job Description
Coordinate the company’s operational teams (70%)
- Lead and manage the company’s three operational teams (Research, Production and Development), including contributions to hiring, training and performance management
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the organization’s operations are aligned with its overall goals and objectives
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s operations
- Set and achieve operational goals and objectives and ensure they are aligned with the overall goals of the organization
- Manage resources, including budget and personnel, to ensure the teams have the necessary resources to meet their objectives
- Oversee the development and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure quality and consistency in the organization’s operations
- Manage and mentor team leads to fulfil their roles, encourage their professional development and growth
- Communicate operational progress and results to senior management and other stakeholders
Guide projects (30%)
- Together with stakeholders develop the organization’s data strategy, including data collection, management, analysis and reporting
- Manage the planning, implementation and tracking of multiple data– related projects
- Together with stakeholders develop and maintain project plans and schedules
- Collaborate with cross– functional teams including data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders to identify project requirements and objectives
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality
- Communicate project status and risks to stakeholders and manage expectations effectively
- Ensure project documentation is complete, up to date, and accessible to all stakeholders
- Identify and manage project risks and issues, implementing contingency plans as necessary
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure data is used effectively to support the organization’s goals
The Successful Applicant
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have a background in both economics and data
- Academic background in a quantitative field (Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or other comparable quantitative disciplines)
- A degree in Business Administration or Operations Management is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading and managing operations
- Strong understanding of operations management and process improvement
- Proven experience in project management, including methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall
- Relevant certifications, such as PMP, Six Sigma and Lean, are a plus
- Knowledge of data science methodologies, data management and analytical tools
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Experience with change management and transformation is a plus
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
- Strong problem– solving and analytical skills
The Head of Operations will be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s operations are running smoothly and efficiently, and that they are aligned with the organization’s overall goals and objectives. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of operations management, process improvement, and project management. The individual in this role must be an excellent leader and communicator, and must have the ability to think strategically and make data– driven decisions.
