Desk Editor

1. Editorial – General:

a. Produce and submit four articles per month for publication in the FME print editions

b. Understanding that Forbes Middle East works as one cohesive team, work in collaboration with the FME staff on other editorial– related tasks and occasional tasks relating to FME events or rankings as required

Print Editorial

In your role as part of the Forbes Middle East editorial team, you will be required to:

• Research and identify suitable companies, organizations, individuals and topics of interest to the Forbes Middle East readership
• Prepare and conduct interviews in person, by email or by telephone. (All recordings, transcripts and other related material should be archived for future reference)
• Draft and finalise 4 stories using at least two additional credible sources. With the exceptions of ForbesLife and other specific cases following agreement with the editor– in– chief or Group Editor, each story should have a strong business focus with financial information clearly stated in the opening paragraphs

2. Website content:

• Producing new content in an appealing manner for the FME website
• In collaboration with the editorial team and FME management, formulate strategies for the development and enhancement of the website
• Coordinate with editorial team to ensure that website content is constantly updated and refreshed
• Collaborate with the team to develop story ideas and editorial calendars that meet client needs.
• Deliver at least four daily stories and one weekly feature

Language:

■ Write all stories and other written content in Arabic and coordinate translation if required

Images and photo shoots:

• Source all required images and forward to the design team for approval and layout; and,
• Arrange photo shoots as required, in coordination with the photographer, design team and executive editor.

Proofreading & Closing:

Undertake detailed proofreading of each version of the magazine prior to going to press. This involves:

• Reading thoroughly for grammatical, design and overall content errors
• Fact checking (names, figures etc)
• Checking for consistency (font, acronyms, layout)
• Ensuring photo captions and photo credits are included
• Ensuring dates, issue numbers, and titles are all present and correct
• Coordinating closely with the design team throughout this process
• Assisting in corrections to proof magazines with design team.

General:

• Work in collaboration with editorial, research, design, PR and sales teams to ensure the successful production of each Forbes Middle East magazine and related activities
• Attend and participate in editorial, research and event meetings as arranged by Forbes Middle East management.

As required:

• Events (a) Assistance in the production of written materials and external communication to support the preparation and organization of Forbes Middle East events;
• (b) Attend each Forbes Middle East event and provide support and assistance as required.
