HuffPost is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable and creative audience editor to help cultivate the largest, most engaged and diverse audience on the internet. This editor will assist the newsroom Monday to Friday, 12PM to 8PM ET.
This position is in the WGA– E bargaining unit.
Be well– versed in optimizing content for search and social platforms, and packaging and distributing content across social channels. You’ll have strong editorial judgment across a broad range of content, and be a creative, collaborative colleague. You will be tuned into the subjects the internet cares about – from breaking politics news to the latest in pop culture, personal essays from people with unique stories to tell, and deeply reported pieces about the biggest issues of our time. You will understand and appreciate lifestyle coverage that helps people live better, and you’ll be eager to connect with communities of many different identities and backgrounds. You will understand ecommerce, and assist in guiding our Shopping team to write commerce content that aligns with our audience’s interests.
You will thrive on working collaboratively with your fellow audience editors, as well as writers and editors across HuffPost. You will participate in audience team activities – from engagement projects (callouts, UGC, AMAs, and beyond) to video ideation and distribution, forward planning for tentpole events, and community activities – to encourage an engaged, diverse readership and viewership. You will communicate proactively and thoughtfully with your colleagues, focusing on delivering audience insights to a newsroom hungry to learn more about our readers and viewers. You will be familiar with common newsroom analytics platforms, comfortable discussing data insights with colleagues who may be unfamiliar with analytics, and eager to listen and deliver the information most helpful to them.

At least two years working in audience growth, distribution, social media and/or SEO on the editorial side of a media organization. You are familiar with analytics platforms, and exhibit very strong news judgment and an appreciation for all sorts of news topics – from serious hard news to fun internet memes and everything in between. You show eagerness to collaborate with colleagues, learn new skills, and experiment with different approaches to distribution. You have flexibility to work later during events like election nights, awards shows and more.
